LQO 0.6.0 reaches the traffic ORMs send. Active mode used to skip any statement inside an application’s own BEGIN and COMMIT, because a hint set there with SET LOCAL would last into every later statement of the transaction. Now LQO saves the settings a hint changes, sets the hint for that one statement, and puts the settings back right after, all on the server in the same round trip.
The Join Order Benchmark, replayed as ORM-style transactions with the hints lqo advise proved in the same run, had all 153 calls of proven shapes hinted, none of the hints reaching the next statement, and a full pass going from 152.8 s to 63.7 s. The release post has the details.
