Precomputing 0.3 Takes OpenTelemetry and Lets a Running File Change Its Policy

Precomputing keeps answers to event streams current in a SQLite file. Until now a file kept the policy it was made with, so one more rollup or precompute meant starting over. precomputing migrate now moves a running file to a new version of its policy: what’s new starts empty, everything already counted stays, and a change that would alter it, such as another billing period, is refused with the reason.

precomputing serve also takes OpenTelemetry logs and metrics over OTLP/HTTP, so an application or a Collector can send to it directly, and a retried export counts once. The server speaks HTTPS, and a billing stream can refuse a report from a gateway whose clock runs ahead, which used to be able to close a month early. The independent review found two ways a small request could exhaust the server’s memory in the new OTLP decoder; both are fixed and tested. The release post has the details, and the 0.3.0 binaries are on GitHub.
