UnGathered Turns Missing Companions Into a Local Checklist
UnGathered joins the studio with a useful reversal: start with what a local collection should contain, then report the checks that fail. A JSON manifest selects product directories, article files or other items and names their expected companions. The first release distinguishes a declared gap from an operational error, so an unreadable folder cannot quietly become a reassuring result.
The manufacturing case checks two product packs and identifies an empty drawing plus a missing inspection record. The publishing case finds a missing image and credit line. Both use generated placeholder files with explicit rules; neither claims to validate document formats or image rights. The recorded explorer shows every passed and failed requirement, including the result after the demonstration script repairs its own fixture.
The code is one Go binary under Apache 2.0, with text, JSON and self-contained HTML reports. It scans without modifying the collection. Linux and macOS CI passed, native archive smoke checks passed on Linux, macOS and Windows, and all five tag/latest archives were independently checked against their checksum manifests. The release includes the example manifests and reference, ready to unpack alongside the executable.
