Unweb Now Signs In to Paid Proxies and Keeps a Mac From Going Direct

Unweb 0.4.0 takes proxies that need a user name and password. A small relay of Unweb’s own sits between each stranger and its proxy, signs in for it, and never tells the engine the proxy failed. That was what made macOS go direct when a proxy was down. Now the stranger is blocked and loads nothing until the proxy answers again, and the self-test saw nothing reach its site on macOS, Windows or Linux. Compare’s new Save report writes a folder with a page, the screenshots and a JSON record to hand on.

The independent review ran two rounds with no blockers; its fixes cover hung proxies, held connections and slow sites. In between, 0.3.1 fixed a Linux layout bug and an Intel Mac installer build that kept failing. It follows the launch note, which covered 0.1 to 0.3.0.
